- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 September 2012Unlike other books which dwell on theory, this book introduce you to the topic and then start the practical stuff.
Each idea introduced is translated into reality through real life scenarios. The book is divided into 3 different stages (30, 60 and 90 days) to guide you through your journey of the first 100 days as an executive.
The language is easy to assimilate and you don't get bogged down by confusing or highly technical jargon.
Diffenitly, a smooth introduction for the novo niche and no time waster for the experienced.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 May 2013Although overall the book has some repetition it is a fairly quick read to help you get your head around how to tackle a new work challenge or role. I found it very helpful.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 May 2018I start my new role soon and wanted some guidance about onboarding and making an impact in the first few weeks of joining. This book is everything and more! It’s quick and easy to read with practical advice and useful tools to navigate your new role. I highly recommend to anyone starting a new role whether than is in a new company or a promotion within your existing organisation.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 January 2018Was expecting more based on some of the good things I’d heard about this book... not terrible, some of it is pretty obvious, and the case studies are a distraction. Definitely better books of a similar nature out there.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 April 2016This is a good read for ideas and a plan for when you start your new job. I have made a plan by using this book but haven't yet to put it into practice so can't comment. I have read the whole book though it full of great tips and knowledge from someone who has seen the process a million time so knows what she is talking about.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 September 2019It will help you go through all the first stages of your leadership and give you different point of views that you might not have noticed before!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 February 2016I found the book to be very simplistic and dumbed down. It also read like an advert for the authors own management coaching business. The book follows the experience of a newly promoted executive and guess what he hires a management coach to help him.
There are a few good points and a few interesting paragraphs. Its quick to read. Its also very USA centric, so if you are a fellow brit beware.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 September 2016Mostly common sense but organised and framed in a usefully structured way. Use of a case study was very helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY!!!
Thank YOU!! -- I have read a variety of leadership books and taken formal leadership training as I've moved through the corporate ranks and found most of the content to be too much, too theoretical and the delivery dry -- Then along came First 100! - I recently moved into a new leadership position, inheriting a disaster and knew I had a short runway to pull the team together and produce results. A friend handed me the book and my first thought was, how can this possibly be impactful given the short length? Then I started to read. Surprise!- With in a matter of hours, I had critical, tactical tasks and plans laid out and my anxiety started to wash away. This author has found a way to simplify a complex topic and break it down to nuts and bolts of what ultimately drives success. But she doesn't just talk about it though. She gives you the tools you need to execute and a means to measure your progress. It really was a life line that continue to refer to - as my battered, dog eared and highlighted copy can attest to. -- I'm generally not an 'all of the above' kind of person, but I have to say, I'd recommend this book to anyone in any leadership position, no matter the level because I cannot think of any example where this framework wouldn't apply. Thank you Niamh O'Keefe ... and my team thanks you too.
